Did anyone see the show that premiered after Ghost Hunters?
Sci Fi Investigates.
A group of 4 people; a crime scene investigator, an archaeologist, a paranormal investigator and a skeptic.
This episode they investigate Voodoo.
The investigators are so bad that it becomes funny at least as far as this investigation goes. The so called skeptic (a past Survivor "star") was the most gullible person in the team.
By the way, it was never very clear as to what they were investigating. Were they investigating the belief system, the magic or the culture? I'm not sure and I watched the show.
On top of that there were some parts that were farcical. And in the end the conclusions were based on subjective data in their so called objective study.
Some personal New Orleans notes (from my visits in 98 and 00):
It was actually St Louis #1 cemetery and it was the tomb of Marie Laveau and yes there are always many offerings there. And, yes her tomb is marked with much writing (alot of it in the form of XXX). I cannot remember exactly what it is supposed to mean other than it appears on the tombs of Voodoo practitioners (many tombs had that mark, but were not as heavily marked as Madame Laveau's tomb). Also, offerings are supposed to be personal and not retail purchases.
Priestess Miriam is an actual person and a very nice person at that. She had the same demeanor that you would find in most spiritual leaders. I did not receive a reading from her, but I did receive a blessed necklace.
Maybe the show will hit it's stride, it did get a bit better as the episode progressed. It was their first show. I will probably watch again because it has such a good lead in.
Just my 2 cents
