A short while back, couple weeks I think, my deaf father had a scare. It seems he had a tear in his retina and some of his retina detached from his eye. There was some concern when the doctor in Las Vegas said he'd have to be face-down for 6 weeks. I couldn't imagine my father in that condition, knowing much of the time he wouldn't have an interpreter handy. So I set to work. I created a medical soundboard for deaf people... check it out if you like. There's still some other things I'd like to do with it... future versions to come. darkandmoodyforums.com/flash/mdsb/mdsb.swf

Yeah ... I think that's everyone's first impulse ... try something dirty. Even my mother did when I showed it to her, until I chastised her for having her mind in the gutter.

Thomas,
how did you do the speech part? I wrote some VB programs that accessed the msagent that allowed speech. I wonder if it is similar.

Hi Rick,
I recorded each phrase and identified each with an instance name. As you select the buttons (visible or invisible), it adds to an array that is to be 'spoken'. When you hit play 'Say it', the button function streams and plays each .mp3 file in sequence, awaiting for the end of the sound object to be played before proceding to the next.
Hope that answers your question.

I'll have to look at the speech options in vista.
I had written a steven hawking type of speech sim in VB.
Good way to handle the speech.
