Folks if you have windows XP, you will have teh Movie Maker Software. That software will allow you to edit video. IT is a [glow=red,2,300]FREE[/glow] download if you have XP and it didn't get installed.
If you have a CD/DVD burner, you can take your home videos and transfer then to CD/dvd. YOu would need to have either a video capture box or most newer Camcorders and computers come with a fireWire connection (It is known as a 1394 interface).
A capture box runs about $70 to much more. most come with editing software as well.
I'll follow up with more...

Well I'd love to try video editing on my computer, but my camcorder is 8mm and I have no idea if I have any kind of firewire connection thing to hook it up to my computer. :/

Hey everybody,
Windows movie maker is fun, not hard to figure out and as Rick said, FREE!!!
Rick turned me on to video editing and I'm having a ball with it.
If you do not have a way to capture video into your computer and you want to, then I recommend the entry level program/hardware from pinnacle systems. It's called Dazzle 85 and is available at your local Best Buy for $49.99.
2 reasons that I recommend it are that Rick uses it's big brother, so he is familiar with it (and now I am too) and it works similar to Windows Movie Maker. The low price makes it very attractive as a starter program too, and you get a video capture device with RCA ports(most video cameras use these) or S-video.
By the way, the SPRI promo video that I made was done with Dazzle 85, just to let you know what you could do with just a little bit of practice!!
Thanks Again Rick for making me a video editing junky!!!!!
Tom.

Thanks Rick............ I keep wanting to give it a try, but I'm just a little intimidated......... How hard is it really? It is really not that hard. I did some video for my church's puppet team. I'll put it somehwere and let you know when you can look at it. It has a lot of green screen effects, and audio additions. Most of the difficulty is trying to do the basic effects or design of the video. Most of my work is a basic tape to DVD. There are very few effects that needed to be done.
