Fort Delaware Ghost Tour reaches a milestone
Named one of the most haunted water sites on the East Coast by The Learning Channel, Fort Delaware State Park is about to reach a milestone with its popular ghost tours - its 10,000th ghost tour guest.
According to park staff, it won’t be long before that 10,000th person appears at the park, and he or she will be rewarded with lots of prizes from local ghostwriters, ghost hunters and frightening places.
Fort Delaware’s own “ghost host” and author Ed Okonowicz has donated copies of all of his books, and well-known Delaware ghost hunter Dr. Lou DiMieri has donated a five-CD set of his “Chilling Stories of the Paranormal.”
One of Delaware’s scariest places, Frightland, located in Middletown, has donated three sets of two-VIP passes and Dover’s Bell, Book & Candle Shop has contributing a special “ghost cleaning kit” for the winner to use to clean house of any ghoulish spirits that might be harassing them.”
The fort invites everyone to reserve their places on the tour to see if they are the lucky 10,000th guest.
The remaining tour dates are July 21, Aug. 4 and 11 and Sept. 8 and 22. Tours begin at 6:30 p.m. at the park ferry dock in Delaware City. The cost is $14 per person. For those who would like to dine with their ghosts, the Appetites for Apparitions Tours are Aug. 26 and Sept. 16, and the cost is $35 per person.
All tours are by reservation only. To make a reservation, call the park office at 302-834-7941.
