Anyone watch this show yet?
I did last night for a bit:
Show editing takes a lot away. I would love to see her do a cold reading in person to make sure that see is not getting clues from the person.
She looked more real than fake but I couldn't tell that the editing.
The really freaky part was when she went to the racetrack and called the race before it happened. too bad she couldn't by a ticked ahead of time....

First, I do believe that psychics exists. though I have not met one. Having said that, I also believe that 98% of those who call themselves psychics are just good at reading people (ie: their reaction to questions, body language, etc) and sounding definitive when they are being vague. How would you react to this from someone who didn't know you? "You've lost someone, haven't you?" "I can tell you that everything is alright." "And that problem you had between you is forgiven." Who hasn't lost someone, and I said "lost" not "dead" so it could mean someone you have just lost contact with. People love to hear good news and many people will implicitly trust a person who gives them good news (even if subconciously). Add to this that the interviewee may give away information about the "lost" person's (or animal) name or gender. If so, then the reading becomes much more personalized. "Becky, is ok, she's in a much better place now." Additionally, there are few people on this planet who, after becoming close to another person, don't have any disagreements ever. And then we're back to giving good news. Once a salesman psychic knows that you are emotionally invested in your interview, they can season it with a few not so good things to lend a bit more "real life" credibility. "I see that an investment you are currently undertaking will not go as you planned, I'm sorry" Oh, fake concern for you also increases the implicit trust level. How do I know this? Because I'm a salesman and a contractor Sorry to have gotten a little off track for a bit. To actually get to the point....... As you said, Rick. It is very hard for me to believe in something like that as seen on TV. You never know what was editied out. You all know that eventhough I love GH, I won't belive until I see it first hand. I couldn't even seriously watch the commercial for this show. Just my twisted 2 cents. Tom. And remember I do believe in psychics, I just believe they are very rare.

I haven't watched the show yet. But I don't put a lot of faith in people who call themselves psychic. Like Tom, I do believe there are people out there with true psychic abilities, but I think they are few and far between.
