*rubs her eyes* Okay, I'm curious about this. I'm wide awake now, thanks to this. EVERY TIME I actually hear a spirit with my EARS, not my 6th sense, it's when I first wake up.
First time was when I was in 5th grade in Woodhaven, MI- although I was going to BED at that point, hadn't even started to doze off. It was a little girl's voice saying some name starting with an S.
Second time was in New Kensington. I don't even remember if it was male or female.
3rd, 4th, and fifth times were here in Nanticoke. 3rd time was a couple weeks ago and the spirit sounded like a 20-30 year old guy saying "If you don't get up, you're going to be late for work." Which bulted me up.. Wide awake me then realized it was Wed. I don't work Wed. 4th time was the following morning, thursday. Same voice said "Are you getting up YET?" with a laugh in his voice. These were about 2 weeks ago 5th time, the most recent, was about 10 minutes ago, not even. It was an older voice, rather raspy, but very friendly sounding. He just said "Hi."
....For the first time, I was actually level headed enough to respond with "Hello."
But my question is thus - Why do they wait until you're trying to sleep?

Oh! Missed one. The fifth time was actually 3 days ago. It was a woman saying something to me, although I forgot what she said!
That was as I was dozing off.
Men talk to me when I wake up.
Women when I go to sleep.
Go figure.

why don't you set up a tape player and see if you can get an EVP? If you have activity and the sprirts are playful they may enjoy the activity.

Don't have one. Last time I tried that.. it fried my radio/CD player/Tape Player.
But if I can get my hands on, and someone wants to go over the tape, I'll do it. 'fraid I don't have the patience to listen to 8 hours of me snoreing and nothing else *laughs*

now HERE is a stupid question. Is there a device in exsistance to record SMELLS? Mom and ed are both at work - have been for a while.
I'm sitting here, trying to focus enough to start cleaning... and the smell of freshly buttered toast wafes past my nose.
that makes...at LEAST 3 smells that shouldn't be there when they're smelled. 1) Cloves - No one in the house smokes cloves, and mom's out of them. and it's a distinct clove burning smell. 2) Coffee - Okay yeah.. I can blame mom.. NORMALLY. Not at 3in the morning when she's asleep and the coffee pot has been off for several hours and rinsed out. 3) Buttered Toast - It's 11 AM... parents have been at work for SOME TIME now.. I have not gone downstairs yet...... Ugh....

I have something similar that happened to me... well, in the fact that it happened when I was falling asleep.
I had been focusing on expanding my senses... really opening up to the surroundings. A little yoga, a little meditation, some herbs specifically for heighening sight and cognitive abilities.
As I was drifting off to sleep, I was suddenly assaulted by a very loud noise ... like someone turning a radio to static and blasting the volume. It woke me up out of a doze, it was so loud. But then it was gone.
What do you think that was all about?

Well, some scientists say that when you're falling asleep, or more oft when you're JUST comeing out of sleep, that your brain is "more subseptable" (pardon horrid spelling) to outside stimuli.
In the case of Alien Abductions, they hypothisize that the abductee is really just coming out of a dream, and still partly within in. The Paralasis they feel can be explained by the fact that our bodies actually release a chemical when we sleep that is suppose to paralize that body while we sleep. These people who feel 'restrained' are actually still, suposidely, suffering from this chemical in their body.
But that's off topic. We're talking about Voices.
I can "Hear" spirits normally, through impressions I get when I'm awake... Through my 6th sense. It's when I actually HEAR them with my ears that it catches me off guard, and is normally when I'm going to or comeing out of sleep.
As for your sensations, Imp, I don't know.
Reminds me of a dream I had when I was 13, just before my 14th birthday, That was.... a "not very nice" dream.. I woke up with a mark on the side of my neck that was the shape of the tip of a double barrel shot gun. The Dream terrified me so badly, it caused me to have a minor seazure or something similar and the dream STILL haunts me to this day. I didn't like Guns before.. I won't go near a double barrel shotgun now... Nope. no way.
I remember the sound of the gun going off and the feeling of the bullet(s?) ripping through my neck.....
I always thought if you were killed in a dream you died for real.. *rubs her chin* ..well, i never want to test the theory again... concidering my body's reaction after I woke. Only explanation that people can come up with is I woke before I actually died in the dream.. *shrugs*

I had a rather interesting (in a pleasant way) experience yesterday. This actually comes on the heels of several nights of intense dreams - all which has one common element - a man (more my age - not elderly like a father figure) that is familiar in the dream, and always seems to be simply watching (like a sentinel) - maybe even protecting... its been quite a while since I've had these types of dreams.
Anyway - yesterday.. around 10pm, I'm laying on the sofa bed watching tv when all of sudden my dog stands straight up from reclining, ears pointed - and he's staring at the door with his happy marmaduke - yup yup i'm happy to see you - look. At that exact moment, the scent of a man's spicy/sweet cologne wafted by me - is if someone walked by. As the scent dissapated - bo returned to his reclining at at foot of the sofa bed.
About an hour later I turned off everything and snuggled in under the blankets - laying on my right side, i grabbed the pillow and cuddled it. I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to fall asleep - as I'm still experiencing a lot of pain from the torn ligament - when - what felt like the side of an index finger - softly (it was like silk) brushed down the side of my cheek... the next thing I knew- it was 5am and my alarm was going off. I was so relaxed that I must have somehow turned off both the alarms.. and the next thing I was being gently awakened by something - when I look at the clock, I find I had fall back asleep and it was now 5:30am (and I am now running late). LOL [but still made it out the door on time]
A pleasantly strange evening and experience - and one which I wouldn't mind having more often.. it was the most tranquil sleep I've had since I injured this ankle before Christmas.

I get alot of dream stuff too. It is true that you are closest to any other realm in that half sleep state when you are just falling asleep or just waking up. I get alot of people talking to me. I've woken from that semi sleep state (as you are falling asleep) with a start on several occassions from people talking. But I'm 36 and I've been doing this so long that it doesn't bother me much. I was a little kid seeing things and hearing things that weren't there. I learned how to control it, within reason, but that sleep state is still something I can't control. I can "flip the switch" any other time. It also doesn't help that I have a ghost in my house and sometimes awake with a start cuz I feel she is watching me. I have to get a digital recorder and see what I can find. Day

This happens to me as well. Usually they'll start talking to me when I'm trying to go to sleep. Sometimes I can understand them, but a few times they speak to me in Latin. I do not speak latin, so I have no clue what they were saying but it sounded evil to me. Of course, since I moved into a fairly new house there hasn't been any odd activity.
